ACL London Annual Costs Conference 2024

Event Description

The costs industry has never been static, and as professionals, we adapt to our surroundings, entering periods of organic growth and development whilst navigating changes to how we work. Looking back at the last 12 months, with the extension of fixed recoverable costs, Costs Lawyers remain busy at the coal face, embracing change and finding new ways of working. The advancement of AI and emerging technologies also present an interesting opportunity to harness development in this area to understand its benefits, and inevitable challenges it will pose.  As Costs Lawyers, we must stay ahead of these advances, understanding not only the impact they will have but embracing change for future development and learning.

The ACL Conference is your opportunity to hear from a range of accomplished speakers on topics which continue to influence the work and future of our profession and to network with one another.

We are delighted to have Dr Anna Colton joining us as our Keynote speaker this year, supported by a host of eminent speakers to inform, enlighten and entertain you.

Confirmed conference speakers are:

  • Costs Judge Jason Rowley, SCCO
  • Costs Judge Simon Brown, SCCO
  • Master Amanda Stevens, King’s Bench Division, RCJ
  • Benjamin Petrecz, Partners in Costs
  • Farhana Mukith & Jeremy McKeown, 12 Kings Bench Walk Chambers

Breakout Sessions

Following the successful introduction at the London 2023 Conference, we are delighted to introduce to the programme schedule a choice of breakout sessions:

  • Simon Williams (Legal Ombudsman) – Client Care Letters: an ombudsman’s perspective on estimates, deductions and informed consent
  • ACL Working Party led by Kris Kilsby and supported by Dr Victoria McCloud, Erica Bedford and Kevin Latham – SCCO updated format of Precedent G (Points of Dispute)
  • Steven Turner, Kings Chambers – Fixed Recoverable Costs: Now, today, tomorrow and always

This is a great opportunity for non-members of the Association to take advantage of our connections and community.  These sessions will run for 30 minutes within the main conference programme.

Post conference there will be an opportunity to network with colleagues old and new over drinks.

Timings, speakers and topics may be subject to change. All photographs taken during the event remain the property of ACL and may be used in Marketing material both print and online.
